BEECH (Fagus silvatica) grows in hilly and mountain areas of central and southern Europe. In Croatia is native wood species. It grows on Macelj, Ivanščica, Medvednica, Papuk, Psunj, Samobor Highlands, in Gorski kotar, on Dinara, Velebit, Bilogora and Kalnik.  Beeches are large trees that may exceed 35 metres in height and 1.5 meters in breast diameter.

Because of its hardness and easy processing beech wood is used in carpentry and beech parquet is one of the most famous domestic flooring.

 

In the production of  beech parquet wood is usually steamed to become as firm as possible, thereby enhancing its technical characteristics. During steaming process wood gets a reddish color that retains for years providing a special charm.

 

Parquet beech can be found in the following classes: A, A / B, B, C and treatments: raw, lacquered, oiled and brushed.
