MERBAU (Intsia) is flowering tree in the pea family, native to the Indo-Pacific. It ranges from Tanzania and Madagascar to east east India and Australia all the way to Samoa island. It is a big tree, it reaches around 50 meters in high.
Merbau is a beautiful timber suitable for numerous purposes. Has an orange-brown color when freshly cut, which becomes a darker reddish-brown during the ages. It is a heavy hardwood highly appreciated in carpentry for indoor and outdoor use, in the production of flooring and indoor sports facilities. Merbau is very durable, and resists both rotting and insect attacks so is often used as technical wood for exterior as a decking, for load-bearing structures, railroad ties and many other purposes.

Parquet merbau has a characteristic brown color with reddish accents and sporadically scattered small yellow spots. Profound shades of exotic merbau parquet are particularly expressed on large surfaces. Because of its hardness merbau flooring is highly appreciated.
