IROKO (Chlorophora excelsa) is family of hardwood from tropical Africa. Iroko wood is used for various purposes, particularly in shipbuilding and parquet and furniture industry. Since late 1990s Iroko is used for the production of musical instruments, precise percussion because of its warm sound.

It is considered one of the most durable wood species in particular as a decking for outdoor conditions because it is full of its natural oils which provides protection against moisture and pests so Iroko has a great tolerance toward changes in temperature and humidity. Because of these characteristics Iroko is widely and often referred as African Teak, although it’s unrelated to the teak family.
Iroko flooring is golden yellow to brown, looks like a teak and has many similar features while at the same time has more favorable price.
